The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of capital police have arrested 113 criminals last month for their alleged involvement in various cases and recovered 29 cars from their possession. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan said this, while addressing a news conference on Thursday.
"During the last one month, the capital police have arrested 113 criminals allegedly involved in various cases of dacoities, car lifting, fraudulent activities from whom 29 cars, stolen items worth Rs 3700,000, two motorbikes, 23 pistols and gold ornaments have been recovered", he said.
He said that Superintendent of Police (SP) investigation Mustansar Hussain Feeroz was assigned special task to resolve the crime cases of heinous nature in the city. The SP along with various police teams including DSP and other police officials accomplish the task and busted five criminal gangs, he said.
The IGP said that CIA Police teams recovered gold ornaments, cash Rs 376,000, three stolen vehicles, two motorbikes, laptop, computer, amplifiers, digital cameras, televisions, eight mobile phones, generator, UPS, mobile cards, fake US currency, 25 fake driving and weapon license, 23 pistols, 3.675- kg hashish, 432 wine bottles, 650 liquor bottles, seven drums of liquor and 12 cartons of beer from the nabbed persons.
He said that ACLC teams have arrested 33 car lifters and recovered 26 stolen cars from their possession worth millions of rupees. Out of these 26 stolen cars, eight cars were lifted from jurisdictions of various police stations of the federal capital.
Bani Amin claimed that crime rate had reduced in capital during current year and no incident of terrorism occurred, showing the hard work of the capital police committed to secure the lives of the citizens. He said that dacoity as well as car theft incidents also reduced in the city. "Heli Unit has been set up while 40 policemen of Anti-Terrorist Squads are being provided training for effective vigilance through the use of helicopter", he said. Later, the IGP handed over the keys of recovered vehicles to their real owners.
