Taiwan stocks fell 0.2 percent on Friday, although smartphone maker HTC Corp surged almost 5 percent on reports its market share in China had doubled to 5.8 percent in the third quarter from the second. The main TAIEX index closed down 13.77 points at 7,130.07. HTC soared 4.6 percent, beating the electronics sub-index's 0.35 percent slide.
The Taiwan dollar was little changed to stand at T$29.130. Foreign investors were net sellers on Thursday, bringing their total selling this month to T$7.4 billion.
