Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), in pursuit of its corporate social responsibility, is spending more than Rs 2.1 billion every year on its education and health care systems for employees and their families. This was stated by Wapda Chairman Raghib Shah while addressing a ceremony at Wapda Cadet College Tarbela, held in connection with Annual Day of the college on Thursday.
Shah said that Wapda is providing the basic amenities of education and health to its employees. Terming Wapda Cadet College yet another contribution by Wapda in providing quality education in its nation building endeavour, he directed the administration to make Wapda Cadet College a premier seat of learning through added input in the academics.
He appreciated the Board of Governors and faculty for the efforts in bringing the college to the present state of development in a short span. He also announced to approve a sum of Rs 37 million for expansion plan of the college. Later, the chairman gave away prizes to the students for their extra ordinary performance in academics and sports.
