Around 10,000 personnel's of police and law enforcement agencies have been deployed for protection of Shia mourner's processions in Peshawar as city and cantonment areas completely sealed off here on Friday. The security has been put on red-alert in Peshawar on police check posts and for detection of bombs and explosive material from various parts of the city.
According to data received from police department, only 10,343 personnel of law enforcement agencies have been deployed in district Peshawar for protection of mourner's processions on 9th and 10th Muharram. Besides, the personnel's of Frontier Reserve Police, Elite Force, Frontier Constabulary, special police force and ex-servicemen also assigned duties on the Ashura for maintenance of law and order.
Similarly, a total of 1,967 personnel of different law-enforcement agencies have been deployed in Hangu, 4,297 in DI Khan, 1,194 in Tank, 1,684 in Mansehra, 3,789 in Bannu, 2,165 in Kohat and 1,052 in Haripur respectively. According to details, 122 processions will be taken out from 65 Imambargahs in Peshawar, 138 from 64 Imambargahs in D I Khan, 15 from 24 Imambargahs in Hangu, 38 from 19 Imambargahs in Haripur, 23 from nine Imambargahs in Tank and eight from 43 Imambargahs in Kohat. Apart from, 377 Muharram processions would be taken out from 243 Imambargahs in the province.
On Muharram 9th, main mourner's procession will be taken out from Imambargah Hussainia Sadder road Peshawar around 11:00am on Saturday (today). It will start from the Hussania Hall. While passing to designated routes including the Fakhr-e-Alam Road, Tipu Sultan Road and Kalabari, Fowara Chowk, will culminate at similar location where it was started.
Under the tight security arrangements, a large number of police and personnel of LEAs have been deployed at rooftop at sensitive locations, government installations, mosques and Imambargahs to monitor the mourner's procession with vigilant eyes. The civil defence scouts and volunteer workers along with peace members of Cantonment Peace Committee will also assist the LEAs in maintaining law and order.
The Peshawar Cant will be sealed for traffic and pedestrians and barbered wires were placed on all entry points to block the entry of commoners and only the Arbab Road would be opened for mourners to reach the Hussania Imambargah. The mourning procession will also be participated by men, women, children and Afghan refugees. Before taking out the mourning procession, the Shia scholars will also highlight the incident of Karbala. On Saturday Muharram would be observed in Peshawar Cantt while on Sunday Taazia and Zuljinnah processions will be brought out from Imambagahs in the City.
The main procession will be taken out from Imambagah Kocha Agha Syed Ali Shah at Chari Koban. The mourning processions will also be taken out from other Imambargahs including Haji Rehman Malik at Mohallah Marvi, Kohati Gate, Imambargah of Tehkhana Gulbacha Jee, Imambargah Haider Shah near Jehangirpura and Imambargah Agha Syed Mir Fazal Shah at Mohallah Khudadad at Qissakhwani.
