The British Council inaugurated the third Virtual Exhibition 2012 under its Education UK (EUK) programme, facilitating Pakistani students towards educational opportunities that may be available for them in the UK. The Virtual Exhibition through an interactive online platform has been reaching out to thousands of potential students for the last three years.
The exhibition was formally launched in a ceremony in Lahore on Wednesday. On this occasion, Richard Weyers, Director Punjab, British Council said, "The British Council is delighted to be leading the way in providing virtual opportunities for students to connect with UK universities. We have a record breaking 32 UK universities involved in this year's exhibition and we hope this will benefit many thousands of potential students in Pakistan."
Pakistan has always had warm and welcoming relationship with the UK, hence it remains an important and rewarding country for the UK. Given the current security situation in view, it has become an equally challenging environment, where face-to-face exhibitions are not always possible. Says Nadia Kamran, the Head of EUK in Pakistan, "Virtual exhibitions are a flexible and sustainable approach to provide quality service to Pakistani students as anyone can be part of them from any location. The British Council is the first in Pakistan to pioneer such an exhibition."
With a rapid increase in the number of Internet users and Internet Service Providers, Pakistani society has seen an unparalleled revolution in communications. Internet access has been available in Pakistan since the mid-1990s. Pakistan is reported as the most connected country in South Asia, with the highest teledensity.
