Elders from different tribal agencies have called further amendments in draconian law of Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) Act, demanding for ending of drones and military operations for establishment of sustainable peace in the tribal region. Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Pres Club, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) Democratic Movement (FDM), Central President, Abdul Rahim Afridi said the incumbent coalition government was responsible for prevailing chaos situation in Fata.
He said that tribal region was completely ignored in the 18th constitutional amendments, termed that Fata reforms were not brought any phenomenal changes for mainstreaming the tribal society. Afridi said that a large number of tribal people had jailed under the Frontier Crime Regulation Act, therefore, there was needed serious and practical steps for establishment of lasting and sustainable peace in Fata, instead of left on mercy of others.
Regarding the excessive security forces operations in Fata, he said the tribal people are worst affected in the ongoing war against terrorism, saying that millions of people had fled their hometown due to unprecedented military actions in tribal region. He said the Fata was intentionally remained backwards in all fields, while the excessive corruption in various departments is further undermining the situation. He said the tribal people faced with worst situation during last five year of democratically elected government in the country, saying that different military operations by behest of foreign mentors.
"The education and economic activities had adversely affected, while people are also deprived from better healthcare and education in wake military operations in different tribal region", he observed. He said the force is not solution of tribal issue, but peace should be bring by using negotiation and talks in the tribal region.
Afridi demanded of the government for immediate end the military operation in Bara Khyber Agency and rest of tribal region, to take effective steps for establishment of lasting peace, and extend special economic assistance package to revive business in Fata. He demanded for repealing of the black law of British era, FCR and practical implementation of Fata reforms to mainstream tribal society.
