Young Doctors of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday announced to start phase-wise protest campaign and strikes across the province after the government's delaying tactics in provision of service structure for them. The announcement was made by the President of Young Doctors' Association, Dr Alamgir Khan, while addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club.
Accompanied by president and general secretaries of young doctors' association from different districts, Dr Alamgir said that government is serious to announce a concrete service structure to young doctors in the province. "We had raised several time issues before the government confronting young doctors, but no practical steps taken in this regard despite the passage of six months," Dr Alamgir said. He further added "government's attitude is creating great frustration and unrest among young doctors."
The association president said the young doctors are also playing important role for provision of better healthcare to terrorism-affected people of the province. Therefore, he said government should also provide them a comprehensive service structure as they are uncertain about their future. He said that a doctor is appointed in grade-17, retired in similar scale due to absence of service structure. He informed that more than 1,000 doctors would be affected from the present situation.
"We have not left other options to launch protest against the indifferent attitude of the government", Dr Alamgir said. "We don't want to suffer people by our any immature step, therefore, government should accept demands and announce service structure forthwith", he demanded.
