The Karachi Port handled 61,528 tonnes of cargo comprising 50,723 tonnes of import cargo and 10,805 tonnes of export cargo including 3,496 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 50,723 tonnes comprised 15,588 tonnes of containerised cargo and 35,135 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 10,805 tonnes comprised 5,592 tonnes of containerised cargo; 622 tonnes of general cargo; 241 tonnes of bulk cargo and 4,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,496 containers comprising 2,505 containers import and 991 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 327 of 20's and 487 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 602 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 90 of 20's and 165 of 40's loaded containers while 73 of 20's and 249 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely APL Brisbane, Ever Result, Azerbaijan, SFL Yukon and Nadeem with two container ships, one oil tanker, one coal carrier and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels viz APL Guangzhou, Pardis, Oriental Freesia and Royal Peridot with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Pardis and Royal Peridot with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Rio De La Plata carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday. There are six vessels viz Rio De La Plata, Jolly, Chem World, Oriental Clematis and Dream Orchid with three container ships, two ethanol tankers and one vehicles carrier respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz Wan Hai-601 and Cape Flores with two container ships respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 65,574 tonnes includes 17,777 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,400 tonnes of edible oil; 4,936 tonnes of chemicals and 34,461 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 19,729 tonnes includes 1,333 tonnes of cement and 18,396 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are four ships namely CV Mare Atlanticum, CV Hammonia Pacificum, MT Chem World and MV Solman Hermes with containers, edible oil and chemicals sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MT Sidra Raslaffan with furnace oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV CMA CGM Puccini, CV MSC Clementina, CV Mare Atlanticum, MV Sai Eternity, MV Thor Independence, MV Solman Hermes, MT Sidra Raslaffan, MT Chem World and MT Global Peace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Cape Flores and Al Marzoqah with containers and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CV Cape Flores and MT Al Marzoqah with containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
