Kitchen is the heart and hub of a home. No matter, you are a housewife or working mom, your first encounter with housekeeping affairs starts with the kitchen. Cooking is fun as long as you keep the kitchen uncontaminated and clean. However, short days of winter often make it difficult to uphold the kitchen all the time. An expert says, "If you get into the habit of cleaning regularly, you'll save a few steps and keep your frustration meter out of the red zone."
For just few minutes of attention, you get shiny kitchen portraying your faith on healthy family even during short days of winter. Well-organised kitchen gives beautiful and spacious look and ensure your safety. Arranging utensils and cooking tools in proper way can make a small kitchen tidy.
Putting the stuff in order not only saves the space but it also saves time and energy. Bigger and small utensils that are used occasionally should keep inside cabinets or closets. Kitchen overcrowded with small accessories and decorative items give messy appearance to your kitchen. Reserving front space or food preparation area only for tools used for everyday cooking makes cleaning task easier.
Cabinets are good for storing big and heavy utensils, at the same time they need special care and maintenance. Oil fumes, greasy marks and food particles love to stick up on cabinet leaving ugly marks. It is important to prefer wooden safe cleaner. Easy way to clean wooden cabinets is wiping them with a piece of cloth soaked in warm soapy water. Always wear rubber gloves for the safeguard of your hands. Make sure to rub the cloth in the direction of wood grains. Use a cloth to dry any excess water as water may damage the wood if left on too long.
Another way of cleaning wooden surfaces is using baking soda, it is great for cleaning and deodorising wooden surfaces. Mix 1/2 cup baking soda with a quart of warm water and use a clean sponge to rub it on the wood surface. Rinse with plain water, blot with a clean towel and allow to air dry completely.
Glass or wire shelves are useful for carrying spice bottles and cans. Spice racks with variety of sizes and style available in market in affordable prices. These shelves and racks occupy less space. Kitchen drawers are ideal for keeping knifes cutlery and teacups but avoid overstuffing these drawers.
Keep your kitchen in tiptop position by cleaning stove after cooking process ends. Burn marks and stain if remain untouched for long time become hard and difficult to remove.
Throw away all your worries of washing greasy utensils just fill your sink or any other deep pot with hot water, four tablespoon of vinegar and small amount of dishwashing liquid. Leftover food particles and debris on Sink, stove, cutting board and counter top invite germs, ants and other crawlers, clean these things regularly help reduce chances of bacterial growth.
It may surprise you that sponges are number one source of bacteria and can be a cause of bacterial infections. Properly sterilise it after every use and regularly discard it with fresh one because dirty sponge is magnet for bacteria and germs.
Overflowing dustbin not only gives ugly look, it is also a home of health hazard bacteria and encourages insect invaders. So never, let it be a negative message to your family and friends.
To remove stains on marble floor tiles and counter top add two table spoon of baking soda into two gallons of water and mix very well. Then apply this liquid cleaner with sponge mop. For sparkling wooden floor and cabinets, add one cup of white vinegar in warm water and wipe with clean sponge.
If you drop an egg on the kitchen floor, sprinkle salt on the mess and leave it there for 20 minutes then wipe it with clean sponge.
For kitchen sink drain, pour in 1/2 cup baking soda, one teaspoon of salt and 1/2 cup white vinegar mixture. Let the mixture sit for five minutes, then flow boiling water. Do not use this combination after using any commercial drain opener or cleaner.
An expert advised that "The first method you should try to remove odor from your cupboards is to place a box of baking soda inside each cabinet. Baking soda will take care of most odor problems. However, if the baking soda does not alleviate the problem, take everything out of your cabinets and wipe down the inside of your cupboards with a heavy mixture of white vinegar and water. Finally, Bright lighting is important to feel the size of the kitchen bigger. Bright lighting adds functionality and makes the kitchen attractive. Position of lighting depends on the size and available space of the kitchen. Central bright light is enough to cheer up the sparkling kitchen.
Before storing any kind of tomato-based food or sauce in a plastic container, rub the inside of the container with vegetable oil to form a protective barrier against stains. Remove stains from woodenware with a mild bleach solution of 1/4 cup bleach to half-bucket warm water. Then rinse and dry before reapplying a protective coating of oil.
