Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that temporary difficulties being faced by the citizens during construction of metro bus project are soon going to change into permanent relief as this project will bring about a revolution in the transport history of Pakistan.
He said that metro bus system will result in speedy, comfortable and economical travelling facilities to the common man. Talking to citizens and labourers during his surprise visit to metro bus project, here on Sunday said that after inauguration of the project, free transport service will be provided to the travellers for a few days. He said that this public welfare project is soon to be completed and will bring about a great cultural change in the public transport system.
He said that metro bus project will rid the people of transport problems and they will be able to reach their destination in the shortest possible time.
The Chief Minister reviewed the pace of work at different sections from Gajjumatta to Civil Secretariat. He visited the project without security or protocol. Shahbaz Sharif said that work was in progress on the project round the clock. He said that he was aware of the problems of the people but after the completion of this splendid project, their temporary difficulties will change into a lasting relief.
He said that metro bus project has been evolved for the benefit of the common man and the poor people as he believes that they have as much right over national resources as the rich. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government was taking practical steps to remove the disparity between the rich and poor and metro bus project was a practical step in this direction. Therefore, he said, the fare rate of metro bus will be kept within the reach of the common man for enabling him to easily avail this modern transport facility. He said that excellent arrangements have been made to facilitate the people during the construction of metro bus project route and the construction work of Kalma Chowk underpass while the construction work of the roads along the project is also being completed expeditiously. The Chief Minister during his visit directed concerned authorities and contractors to complete the project at the earliest while special attention should be paid to the standard of construction work.
Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, Assembly Members Ramzan Bhatti, Haifz Mian Muhammad Nauman, Project Director BRT, Commissioner Lahore Division, DG LDA and authorities concerned were present.
