Law Enforcement Agencies on Wednesday claimed to have nabbed over 40 suspects from different areas of the city while an alleged bandit was killed in an encounter. According to official sources, Shah Faisal police on intelligence information intercepted a car carrying two persons at Azeem Pura area. Resultantly, the persons opened indiscriminate gunshots on police with the aim to break the security check.
When police retaliated the fire, one of the accused sustained bullet injuries and was nabbed by the police while other managed to flee. Police said the detained person, identified as Sheroz, during initial course of investigation revealed that he and the accused Ali Irani, who was the gang leader, used to rob valuables from the passengers coming from abroad under the guise of policemen. Police said both the accused committed over 60 such robberies and also were involved several heinous crimes.
Similarly, the law enforcers claimed to have arrested over three dozens suspects in raids in Solider Bazar, Chanasar Goth, Joharabad, Baldia, Orangi Town, Rizvia, Azam Basti and East zone and recovered huge cache of weapons and drugs from them. An alleged bandit was killed during a police encounter in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. Police said the encounter took place at Jamali Goth where five alleged street criminals were intercepted when they were busy in looting valuables from passers-by.
