The Karachi Port handled 43,782 tonnes of cargo comprising 19,178 tonnes of import cargo and 24,604 tonnes of export cargo including 2,574 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 19,178 tonnes comprised 15,692 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,506 tonnes of general cargo and 1,980 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,604 tonnes comprised 23,496 tonnes of containerised cargo; 256 tonnes of general cargo; 852 tonnes of bulk cargo: 222 tonnes of sugar and 630 tonnes of flour. As many as 2,574 containers comprising 1,117 containers import and 1,457 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 447 of 20's and 284 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 51 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 797 of 20's and 180 of 40's loaded containers while 152 of 20's and 74 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are four ships namely Kota Gunawan, Amanda, Lodestar Genesis and Tegucigalpa with two container ships, one oil tanker and one ship under repair respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are five vessels viz Santa Refeala, APL Brisbane, Stream Luna, Alpine Moment and Fu Yu Shan with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
A container ship namely Santa Refeala sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely APL Brisbane and Stream Luna with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There are three vessels viz APL Sharjah, Thailand Express and Chaynee Naree with two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz Golden Gion, Bon Chem, Hammonia Ionium and MT Quetta with two ethanol tankers, one container ship and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely OOCL Busan, Cosco Tianjin and Lantau Arrow with three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 54,376 tonnes comprising 46,477 tonnes of import cargo and 7,899 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 841 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 46,477 tonnes includes 12,687 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,224 tonnes of edible oil; 4,600 tonnes of steel coil; 8,403 tonnes of iron ore and 10,563 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 7,899 tonnes includes 801 tonnes of wheat and 7,098 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are three ships namely MT Chem Road Vega, MT Arietis and MV Vina Lines Sky with edible oil, crude oil and steel coil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Bellini with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz CV CMA CGM Bellini, MV Sai Eternity, MT Arietis, MV Vina Lines Sky, MV Beauty Full Rena and MT Chem Road Vega are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, furnace oil, steel coil, iron ore and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Hansa Liberty and Bunga Angelica with containers and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz Hansa Liberty and Bunga Angelica with containers and edible oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
