IBA convocation 2012 held

Institute of Business Administration (IBA), awarded 445 degrees to the students of various disciplines on the occasion of Convocation 2012. Besides, the IBA has also conferred degree (Honoris Causa) Doctorate in Management to renowned Philanthropist Dr Adib-ul-Hassan Rizvi, founder of SIUT for his outstanding leadership & philanthropic services.
Dr Adib, a urological surgeon of country who dedicated his life for the service of humanity and saving millions of lives through acts of kindness, companionship and commitment. The Convocation 2012, was held at main campus of IBA, University Enclave here on Saturday. Among 445 students 69 percent were male and 31 percent were female who have been graduated under various Bachelors and Masters' Programmes including 49 Executive MBAs.
This year first batch of MBA students with two-year postgraduate experience has gone into the market as well. On the occasion, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker Sindh Assembly was the chief guest of the convocation and he awarded Gold Medals and Shields to the position holders and excellent students including Afsheen Qaiser (Overall Best Student -Graduate Programme), Aatira Mushtaq Madraswala (Overall Best Student - Undergraduate Programme) Umair Junaid Dinarwala (Overall Marketing Gold medal) Javeria Siddiqui (Overall Finance Gold medal), Muhammad Fazil Maniya (Gold medal for the "Best BSIMIS Project"), Muhammad Umair Khan (Gold medal for the "Best BSIMIS Project"), Rameez Anjum (Gold medal for "Rest BSIMIS Project") and representative of Marketing Society (Best Student Society of the Year).
Addressing the event, Nisar Khuhro praised the reliability of high standard of IBA that had successfully produced exceptional students who are given recognition at home and abroad.
He congratulated the passing out students and forced them for the real service of nation and country. Earlier, Dr Ishrat Husain, Dean and Director IBA, has declared 2012 "A year of Infrastructural Development and International Linkages" the best in his four-and-half year tenure at IBA that rooted successful culmination of a series of initiatives forming part of the multi prong IBA Strategy which was adopted in 2008 to achieve the ambition of becoming the leading business school in Asia and in the world.
He informed the participants that availability of new capacity of classrooms, labs, seminar rooms, hostel facilities etc, has allowed IBA to expand its annual intake of students to various programs specially MBA Morning program which was 63 this year as compared to 25 last Fall. Dr Adib gave said to the students of IBA that don't come in the rumours that our country is sinking ship so take away from it, this is totally wrong, here is big potential that's why institutions like SIUT, IBA and others are progressing day by day.
