Five more persons, including a former union council Nazim, were killed in separate incidents of violence in various parts of the Sindh metropolis on Saturday. Unknown armed men critically injured a 40-year-old man named Intizar Alvi at a tea shop in Jehangirabad in Nazimabad in the limits of Rizvia police station. The man died on the way to hospital. Police officials said that the man worked for MQM and was a former UC Nazim. He lived in Peetal Wali Gali in Gulbahar, they said.
Following his killing, tension prevailed, resulting in suspension of all business activity in the area. The body of an unidentified man with a gunshot wound to the head was found in Saadi Town in the limits of Malir Cantt police station. Police said the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. According to police, the body's hands and legs were found to be tied with rope. The body was moved to Edhi morgue.
A 50-year-old woman lost her life when three alleged bandits opened fire after a jeweller resisted them in the limits of Saddar police station. Police said three armed men barged into a jewellery shop in the Saddar Market and tried to rob gold ornaments. Meanwhile, the owner of the shop, Huzaifa, managed to press the security alarm. As a result, the robbers fired hitting the elderly woman. The deceased lived in the same area.
A pan vendor named Ali Gul, 50, was killed in a drive-by shooting in the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. Police said the man was shot and killed at his pan shop on the Super Highway. They suspected that he might have been killed over a personal feud.
Khursheed Ahmad, 40, was gunned down in a similar manner in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. Police said the man lived in Ayub Goth and he might have also been killed because of a personal dispute.
