Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday announced that a conference of regional countries would be held soon in the country for implementation of Drug Regulatory Act more effectively. She said objective of the conference is to share experiences and observations of other countries regulators for establishing a concrete strategy to implement the Act and prepare a roadmap for facilitating masses at their doorstep.
She pledged that best facilities, security and incentives will be provided to people attached with the pharmaceutical industry, adding that the government of Pakistan People's Party is committed to providing quality medicine on lower rates and ensure basic health facilities for everyone. Talking to a German drug investors' delegation headed by Chairman Merk Group Executive Board, Dr Kari Ladoock Kally here at her office, she assured them of full co-operation and security of investment in different cities including Quetta.
She said that the government would not only encourage foreign investment but also provide complete support in this regard. The head of German delegation appreciated the efforts of Ministry of National Regulation and Services regarding passage of Drug Regulatory Act and opined that the step would be helpful to remove hurdles in the provision of quality drugs at reasonable rates in market. The delegation members offered investment in pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan which was lauded by the Minister. "It would also helpful for bringing more foreign investment in pharmaceutical industry," they said.
