Speakers at a seminar have called for complete repealing of the Frontier Crime Regulation Act as innocent children, and aged people jailed under the draconian law, termed that the recently introduction Fata reforms were insufficient to bring change in social fabric of tribal society, need to further reforms in tribal region.
"The black law FCR is much powerful to usurp human rights in tribal areas even Political Party Act (PPA) in the region," lamented the speakers while sharing their grievances over the prevailing situation going on in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). The seminar organised by jointly Citizen Rights and Sustainable Developments (CRSD), South Asia Partnership (SAP) and Strengthening Participatory Organisation (SPO) in connection of World Human Rights Day (WHRD) here Press Club on Monday.
Those spoke on the occasion include, Idrees Kamal, Zar Ali Afridi, Ijaz Mohmand, a President of FATA Lawyers Forum (FLF), Zahir Shah Safi, Samiullah Afridi, Shams Naveed, Nisar Muhammad Khan, Aqeel Yousufzai, Ashraf, Nusrat Bibi and others. The participants said that a well-organised conspiracy was hatched to remain the Pakhtun nation deprive from all basic human rights, saying that the FCR as main hurdle in provision of the rights to the tribesmen.
"Article 247 and sub section-3 of the constitution of Pakistan gave no right to tribal people to appeal in high or supreme courts and deprived them of all human rights while Article-1 declares Fata as region of the country," The Fata lawyers president Ijaz Mohammad quoted. The human rights, he said there was no concept of human rights in the tribal belt and that's why the innocent people in Fata were being targeted without any hesitation and they could not even think to appeal to the court against cruelty over them.
"We don't accept concept of "Missing persons", they added and demanded for abolishing of FRC, announcement for compensation, civil awards along with social security to the victims of target killings, saying all the missing persons should be presented in the court whether they have any schools of thought because it is duty of the court to convict them.
