As the upcoming general elections are nearing, different factions of Muslim Leagues including Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) have sped up their political activities in rural Sindh.
The PML-N has organised a public meeting in Kherpur Nathan Shah on Thursday while PML-F is going to show its strength in Hyderabad today (Friday). The PML-Q would also show its political strength on December 16, 2012 in district Dadu. Political experts say that as general elections are likely to be held in early next year, all political parties have become active in the interior part of the province to garner maximum support for the upcoming elections. PML-F headed by Pir Syed Sabghat-u-llah Shah Rahsidi (Pir Pagara), is already running a movement against PPP-led government over the controversial Sindh People's Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012. The PML-F is organising a public meeting in Hyderabad today (Friday) to demonstrate its political power.
Similarly, the PML-N is also active in the rural areas of Sindh to taken on PPP in next general elections in league with some nationalists parties. Former chief minister Sindh Liaqat Jatoi, who had joined PML-N a few months back, has advised party's leadership to kick off party's lections campaign from Dadu district. Jatoi organised a public gathering in Kherpur Nathan Shah on Thursday and Mian Nawaz Sharif was to address the meeting, but he did not turn up due to some unknown reasons.
Some PML-N leaders advised Nawaz not to visit Sindh this time as emotions are high here over the recent verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding Kalabagh Dam, a senior PML-N leader told Business Recorder. The PML-Q has also decided to launch its election campaign in the province from Dadu district and the party would organise a public gathering in Ali Pur village of Kherpur Nathan Shah (Dadu) on December 16.
