Pakistan blind cricket team's winning streak in the Blind T20 World Cup came to an end when host India defeated the team by 29 runs in the climax of the tournament on Thursday in Bangalore. India batted first in the final of the tournament and put on board 258-8 in 20 overs. Ketan Bhai Patel batted brilliantly for the home-side scoring 98 runs while Prakash Jayaramaiah contributed 42 runs. Pakistan in response scored 229 runs in 20 overs losing eight of their wickets.
Pakistan's Mohammed Jameel scored 47 and Ali Murtaza scored 38 to put some resistance against the archrivals. Pakistan had gone into the match following eight wins in the group stage, which included beating India by comprehensive eight-wicket margin and another big victory against England in the semi-final.
But India eventually managed to take a sweet revenge along with the event's title. The tournament, which came to an end on Thursday, had earlier made headlines across the border after Pakistani skipper Zeeshan Abbasi was served phenyl at the breakfast table, which the visually impaired player drank and was subsequently hospitalised in bad condition. He was discharged the next day after an endoscopy was conducted. The hotel management apologised for the incident terming it as a human error and also sacked the erroneous server. The Pakistan team management magnanimously accepted the apology.
