The Karachi Port handled 83,037 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,259 tonnes of import cargo and 10,778 tonnes of export cargo including 5,627 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 72,259 tonnes comprised 54,457 tonnes of containerised cargo; 585 tonnes of general cargo and 17,217 tonnes of bulk cargo.
The total export cargo of 10,778 tonnes comprised 8,890 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo; 768 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,627 containers comprising 4,034 containers import and 1,593 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,164 of 20's and 1,419 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 16 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 212 of 20's and 243 of 40's loaded containers while 101 of 20's and 397 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are three ships with one container ship and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are six vessels with three container ships, one general cargo ship, one coal carrier and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 7,841 tonnes comprising 3,649 tonnes of import cargo and 4,192 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 701 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 3,649 tonnes includes 395 tonnes of project cargo and 3,254 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 4,192 tonnes includes 601 tonnes of wheat and 3,591 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are two ships namely CV NYK Kai and MT Mire with containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon, while two more ships namely CV Cape Flores and MV Freden Borg with containers and project cargo sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of six vessels viz CV Cape Flores, CV NYK Kai, MV KPS-1 Alican Bey, MV Sai Eternity, MT Mire and MV Freden Borg are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, powership, wheat, furnace oil and project cargo respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely MSC Clementina, Kalamas, MT Lahore, Beautiful Rena and Chemroad Lily with containers, furnace oil, rice and project cargo respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV MSC Clementina, MT Lahore and MV Chemroad Lily with containers, furnace oil and project cargo are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Saturday.
