US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson on Tuesday called on Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and reviewed the latest progress made in the bilateral relations. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides during the meeting reviewed the recent progress made in bilateral relations and follow up of recent meeting at Brussels between the US Secretary of State and the Foreign Minister.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues related to reconciliation process in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister underscored the importance of extending market access to Pakistani goods and services and expressed satisfaction on the content and outcome of the bilateral working group meetings for energy, defence, economic and financial matters and security, stability and non proliferation issues held recently between the two sides.
US Ambassador emphasised the importance of Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) for increasing trade and investment with Pakistan. During the meeting the US envoy also reaffirmed his country's respect for Pakistan's sovereignty and appreciated efforts made by law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism. Both agreed to work collectively for peace and stability in the region, it added.
