The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) while criticising the suspension of gas supply to the industry termed it an anti-industry and anti-economy steps of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. FPCCI Vice President Azhar Majeed Shaikh in a statement on Tuesday urged the government to immediately change this policy otherwise it would affect severely to economy.
"Industry is a back bone of the economy but it seems that government has planned to destroy it completely," he said. SNGPL has suspended gas to all industrial sectors for indefinite period on account of sever winter across the country, increasing city loads on its network due to increased consumption in domestic sector. Reduction in supply to industrial sector is very harmful for the national economy, he said.
