Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday presided over a meeting with Vice Chancellors of Universities of Sindh having certain issues and financial problems held at CM House.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Sindh Governor Professor Noshad Ahmed Shaikh, VC Karachi University Professor Dr Muhammad Qaisar, VC Sindh University Dr Nazir A. Mughal, V.C Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Lyari Dr Rasheed Ahmed Shah, VC Sindh Madarssat-ul-Islam University Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, VC Sindh Agriculture University.

Mirbahar, VC Shah Abdul Latif University Khair Dr Parveen Shah, VC Benazir Bhutto University, Benazirabad Professor Arshad Saleem, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, Minister Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, ACS (P&D) Malik Israr, ACS (Finance) Arif Ahmed Khan, Secretary Interprovincial Co-ordination Kaleem Lashari, Secretary Education Mukhtiar Ahmed Soomro, Deputy Secretary Governor House Moinuddin Siddiqui and others.
VC of Universities highlighted problems with reference to salary component of staff, funds for development projects, construction of departments and faculties and allocation for research in various sectors. Chief Minister said that according to decision of CCI, the subjects transferred to provinces are including Higher education, and Universities of respective provinces. He said that in first phase, the Universities having some problems have been invited while the remaining universities will be invited in second phase.
He said that furtherance and promotion of education is objective of present elected government, while efforts are being made to pay full attention towards higher education.
He added that the Government of Sindh has instated to establish "Sindh Higher Education Commission" so as to resolve the problems of Universities and Centers of Excellence engaged in promotion of knowledge latest technologies and educational upliftment.
Qaim Ali Shah added that inspite of various constraints; the provincial government has always provided facilities and incentives to educational institutions. He said that Punjab has already formed the HEC and Sindh province has also initiated in right direction.
Qaim Ali Shah added that inspite of limitations; the needs of higher educational institution particularly the Universities will be fulfilled. He also constituted a Committee headed by Minister Finance to ascertain the demands, needs and requirements of Universities.-PR
