Pakistan Army on Tuesday said that the writ of the government has been restored in Central Kurram Agency after the killing of more than 500 foreign and local terrorists in the area. Briefing media, about Koh-e-Safaid II Operation, Operational Commander of Central Kurram Agency Brigadier Tariq Aman said that 75 personnel of security forces have also embraced martyrdom in the operation against terrorists.
He said that the writ of the government has been restored in over 95 percent areas of Central Kurram Agency after the defeat of terrorists and militants in their strongholds. Eulogising the chivalry of Army and Frontier Corps' troops for conducting the successful military operation, he said all the restive areas has been cleared from anti-state elements and the back of militants has been broken.
Brigadier Tariq Aman said that security forces bravely responded to the resistance of the militants in a few areas by killing over 500 local and foreign terrorists. He said that during this operation, 75 security personnel were also martyred and 220 other sustained wounds including 90 those who had suffered injures due to harsh weather condition.
The military official said that Thall-Parachinar road, which was closed for last four years, has been reopened for traffic and confidence of people had also been restored. The reopening of the road, he said will help promote trade, economic and agricultural activities and will bring positive impact on the socio-economic conditions of tribesmen of the area concerned.
Brigadier Tariq Aman said that the terrorists have deceived the people in the name of 'help' and later for fulfilment of their nefarious agenda destroyed their businesses and properties. The people of the area were fed up with the unlawful activities of militants, who destroyed the existing infrastructure including hospitals, BHUs, educational institutes and bridges. He said that the people of the area warmly welcomed the security forces and extended full co-operation to them in their purging.
He said that after the restoration of the writ of government, the repatriation of displaced families has been accelerated and about 1,200 families have already been repatriated to their area while efforts are underway to facilitate the remaining displaced families. He said that the objectives of the operation have been achieved. He lauded the co-operation of the local tribesmen and elders that greatly helped in reestablishment of the writ of the government in the area.
