Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that the special initiatives of the provincial government are aimed at eradicating poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and removal of hurdles in economic development of the province.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting in his office here on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed matters relating special initiatives for eradication of poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and diseases and their encouraging results.
Those who attended were included administrative secretaries of departments of Finance, Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Agriculture, Health, Energy & Power, Science and Technology, Transport, Culture Department, Managing Director, Bank of Khyber and other concerned officers. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction on the interest of the people in scholarship scheme for girls in TorGhar and Kohistan districts and Hunarmand and Traditional Hunarmand Rozgar schemes.
He expressed satisfaction on the removal of mark-up on the loans of Hunarmand Rozgar scheme and introduction of Traditional Hunarmand Rozgar in eight districts after their success in Peshawar division. He also expressed satisfaction on scholarships for motivating girls to education in TorGhar and Kohistan districts. In his presentation, Secretary Industry Fazal Rahim Khattak apprised the meeting of decision on removing mark-up on loans under Hunarmand Rozgar Schemes and said that number of applications for loans had gradually increased.
He presented detailed briefing on long term loans for industrial development and programs of free training to youth. Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Hamayun said that under Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa Education programme 128 private schools out of 400 schools for current year have been registered. The chief minister stressed for ensuring quality education and monitoring.
He said that due scholarships programme for motivating girls to education in TorGhar and Kohistan, the number of girl's enrollment increased considerably and relaxation is provided alongside other facilities in connection with education for removal of deficiency of female teachers.
It merits a mention here that literacy rate in those districts was for low and to counter this financial assistance program has been initiated. Secretary Energy & Power, Zafar Iqbal said that the process of establishment of oil and gas company and oil refinery was in progress for increase in reservoir of oil and gas in the province and it will be finalised soon.
Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orkazai said that due to progress on interest free loans for Traditional Hunarmands in Peshawar division, the scheme has been extended to eight districts that include Mardan, Swabi, Chitral, D I Khan, Lower Dir, Haripur and Abbottabad. The Chief Minister directed health and higher education department for finalising provision of oncology services to cancer patients and Niway Saher laptop scheme.
