Performers at a Christmas function enthralled audience by presentation of various items and Christmas songs in the overnight show as celebrations started here in Peshawar. The Christmas event was organised by Assemblies of God Churches (AOGC) here at local hotel.
On the occasion, the AOGC Chairman, Pastor Dr A.R Hashmat offered special prayer for peace, prosperity and integrity of the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial Minister for Hajj and Religious Affairs, Haji Nimroz Khan and a large number of families belonging to Muslim and Christian communities attended the function.
In the overnight show, students from missionary schools presented a variety of items, skids, tableau, dramas, and Christmas songs and enjoyed the audience with their performance. The traditional Christmas trees were installed. The AOGC chairman highlighted the significance of the Christmas Day, termed that it being celebrating to convey a message of peace, affection, and tolerance. He extended special thanked to Muslim and Christian communities for their participation, particularly ANP leaders in the function. He informed that the programme was organised every year for Muslim community under the auspicious of AOGC.
Addressing the function, Gulshan Bhatti, a leader of Christian community eulogised the ANP government for taking steps for welfare of the community, and extended maximum facilities and opportunities regardless about any differences of religion. He demanded for implementation of increase in minority quota from two to five percent, and allocation of special funds for establishment of church at D.I.Khan.
He also called for uninterrupted supply of electricity to church, and other places, where the Christmas celebration are being held in the provincial capital city. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Religious and Minorities Affairs, Nimroz Khan addressing the gathering said that the government was taken revolutionary steps for provision of facilities and incentive to minorities in the province.
