Jalalpur Pirwala Police raided the cotton complex 'Shabbir Cotton Ginning and Solvent Factory,' owned by Haji Muhammad Akram, chairman of Ginners Group and ex-chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association(PCGA) to arrest a proclaimed offender. Police manhandled the workers of the factories and took its manager in custody.
Police broke into the factory without search warrants. Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has strongly reacted on the high handedness of the police contingent and demanded immediate suspension of the entire staff of Jalalpur Pirwala city. Muhammad Akram said that every ginning factory was paying Rs 10 to 15 million tax to the government. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday PCGA spokesman Shehzad Ali Khan, Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Suhail Mehmood, Khawaja Muhammad Azam, Khalid Bashir and Mian Fazal Elahi said that police have harassed the 400 employees and gave them severe beating besides searching their pockets and humiliating them. They said that government should take notice of police action against a noble and respectable industrialist.
