FCCI expo named 'Made in Faisalabad' will be organised in Chandi Garh India as well as three trade delegations from Faisalabad are planned to visit India, said President The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Mian Zahid Aslam here today.
Giving details he said that the first trade delegation is planned in February 2013, second in March, 2013 and third one in September 2013 along with exclusive 'Made in Faisalabad' exhibition in Chandi Garh India next year. He continued that cooperation and assistance in this context was promised by Sharat Sabharwal, High Commissioner of India in Pakistan during his visit at FCCI on 17th December, 2013.
He stated that 60 percent trade in the world was through regional trade. Hence, regional trade was the best option to enhance trade with India a bigger economy and a market of 1.2 billion consumers would be available to Pakistani manufactures. The trade volume could be enhanced to US $4-5 billion per annum from the current around US $2 billion by formalising the informal trade of US $3 billion, he added. He was confident that with the New Visa Agreement and minimising quantitative restrictions as well as Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs), Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) and providing a level playing field to Pakistan Industries by India, mutual trade could be increased manifold in a short period of two to three years.
He stated that there was potential for joint investment in the high tech sector, medicine, textile, agriculture, telecommunication, chemicals and automobiles between both countries. As the leading growers of cotton and textile manufacture, joint investment in textiles would put cause the textile sectors of both neighbouring countries to grow rapidly.
