A large number of women health workers staged a protest demonstration against the killing of polio vaccinators in Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in front of the Parliament House and Supreme Court, demanding of the government to provide fool-proof security during various health campaigns. They also staged a sit-in in front of the Prime Minister's Secretariat, condemning the killings of workers engaged in anti-polio drive across the country.
Protesters were holding placards and shouting slogans against anti-social elements. Participants urged the government to quickly apprehend the killers of polio vaccinators, and called for paying adequate compensation to the heirs of the workers killed in incidents of violence. They also urged the government to regularise the services of Lady Health Workers across the country. Protestors later tried to enter the PM secretariat, but their attempt was thwarted by police.
