At least nine labourers were killed and several others were injured in an explosion which occurred in a coalmine at a remote area of Orakzai Agency on Monday. According to the media reports, the incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning in the Doli area of Lower Orakzai. Officials said that at the time of incident around 60 labourers were working in the mine, while around two dozen others luckily had already come out to take breakfast minutes before the blast took place.
The reports said the explosion occurred as gas accumulated due to the absence of proper ventilation in the mine.
