Designated Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mahmood called on Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and senior leader and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi at their Gulberg residence here on Monday.
During the meeting views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest, the sources said, adding, "the meeting was part of goodwill meetings, Ahmad Mahmood is holding with different politicians ahead of assuming charge of the Punjab Governor." It may be noted that oath taking ceremony of newly appointed Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mahmood is scheduled to be held here at the Governor's House on Tuesday (today). Invitations have been extended to leaders of different political parties besides high ranking civil and military officials.
Talking on this occasion, Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood said, "Our and your families are old Muslim Leaguers. My and your elders had close personal relations. My late father Makhdoom Hassan Mahmood greatly respected Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi Shaheed and met him with great reverence and respect whereas I also have great respect and prestige of yours in my heart." He expressed the confidence that old relations would always remain between the two families, and said he would try to perform his constitutional role in an appreciable manner.
Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi felicitated Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood and said they also highly appreciate the old and close relations between the two families. PML Khyber Pukhtunkhwah President Syed Qasim Shah, former provincial Minister Mian Imran Masood, Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain, Mian Haroon Masood and Rasikh Elahi were also present on the occasion.
