Taiwan stocks rose 0.2 percent on Thursday, with smartphone maker HTC rallying 6 percent amid local media reports that its new Butterfly phones have triggered stronger-than-expected demand in Japan. The main TAIEX index closed 14.22 points higher at 7,648.41, as the electronics sub-index added 0.3 percent. The Taiwan dollar climbed T$0.086 to stand at T$29.042 against the US dollar.
