The Karachi Port handled 108,284 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,432 tonnes of import cargo and 33,852 tonnes of export cargo including 4,741 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 74,432 tonnes comprised 35,604 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,021 tonnes of general cargo; 25,035 tonnes of bulk cargo and 8,772 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,852 tonnes comprised 25,604 tonnes of containerised cargo; 402 tonnes of general cargo; 5,257 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,430 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,741 containers comprising 2,565 containers import and 2,176 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 845 of 20's and 860 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 732 of 20's and 347 of 40's loaded containers while 102 of 20's and 324 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There is one container ship sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels with one container ship, one general cargo ship and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 36,419 tonnes comprising 33,405 tonnes of import cargo and 3,014 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 145 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 33,405 tonnes includes 13,668 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,689 tonnes of palm oil; 1,423 tonnes of rice; 11,625 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 800 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 3,014 tonnes includes 1,814 tonnes of wheat and 1,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are two ships namely CV Hammonia Pacificum and MT Al-Salam-II with containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Zao Galaxy with palm oil sailed out to sea on Saturday morning. A total number of seven vessels viz CV Hammonia Pacificum, MV Beautiful Rena, MV Dogan Bey, MT Zao Galaxy, MT Argent Aster, MT Al-Salam-II and MV KPS Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, wheat, phosphoric acid, palm oil, diesel oil and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely SC Hai Kou, Meta, Al-Marzoqah and Sigloo Hav with palm oil, wheat, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are four vessels viz MT Global Peace, MT SC Hai Kou, MT Al-Marzoqah and MV Sigloo Hav with palm oil, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are due to arrive on Saturday at Port Qasim.
