Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) safeguarded Pakistan against conspiracies as a patriotic soldier of the country. He never compromised on the national interest and followed the principles. These thoughts were shared in a condolence reference in memory of Quaid-e-Azam's companion, activist of Pakistan Movement and author of books on ideology of Pakistan Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) held here on Sunday.
Former Minister of State Qayyum Nizami, Former Auditor General Punjab Jamil Bhatti, Professor Naseem Zafar, Altaf Hassan Qureshi, Brigadier Waseem Zafar (retd), Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Zubair Sheikh and Jameel Gishkori paid tributes to him.
Zubair Sheikh said that Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) presided over many brainstorming sessions and played a pivotal role in Pakistan Visionary Forum.
He believed that in future Pakistan would be appeared on the world map as a modern Islamic welfare state as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam, Zubair added. Altaf Hassan Qureshi said that we should pay homage to our national heroes like Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) who contributed a lot towards the making of Pakistan. He also expressed all objectives of making Pakistan as an independent welfare state for the Muslims of the subcontinent are still to be achieved as the distribution of wealth amongst the various classes and masses in Pakistan is unequal. As a result, rich people are becoming richer and poor are down-trodden. He appreciated Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) for his sincere struggle with pen and heart.
Qayyum Nizami told that Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) played a significant role as office bearer of Muslim Students' Federation under the umbrella of Quaid-e-Azam's mission. He spread Jinnah's message to every corner, Nizami added. His two books "from the corridors of memory" and "Jinnah's point of views" are the asset of history. He also praised the efforts of running educational trusts with his own pocket to provide respectable job opportunities to the young generation. He appealed the people of Pakistan to elect such personalities in national elections if they want to really transform Pakistan from a crisis to development.
Former Auditor General Punjab Jamil Bhatti said that due to the struggle of patriotic, sincere and honest personalities like Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) we have had the opportunities to become officers otherwise it was not possible under the reign of Hindus for which we are indebted to Quaid-e-Azam and his companions. Dr Muhammad Sadiq said that Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd) explained the objectives of making Pakistan to many people of our society so that the ideology of Pakistan is apprised to everyone. Promotion of ideology of Pakistan will be the best tribute to Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (retd), Dr Sadiq added.
