At least nine persons including three women were killed in different areas of the metropolis here on Monday. According to police and rescue sources, five unidentified armed men barged into the house of Malik Riaz located in Ayub Goth police's limits and opened fire on the inhabitants. Resultantly, Noorian, wife of Riaz, his sister-in-law Sumareen, a relative Joji and his son Sheraz sustained fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.
Police said that personal enmity might have been behind the killings. Investigation was underway. A 40-year-old Nawazish Ali, son of Nadir Ali, was gunned down near Aisha Bawani School in the limits of Saddar police station. DSP Malik Ahsan said the deceased, who hailed from Punjab, was the worker of PPP.
Another man, Salahuddin, 58, son of Abdul Samad, was assaulted when he was sitting at his shop in sector 16-A Buffer Zone in the limits of Tehmoria police station. Police said the victim was an active worker of MQM unit 143. A bullet-riddled body of an 18-year-old man, Bilal Baloch, son of Inam Bux, was recovered near Dhobi Ghat area in the limits of Pak colony police station.
Police said the victim was kidnapped from Garden area and then murdered after severe torture. They suspected that Lyari gangsters might have involved in his killing. A biker, Jawad, 45, son of Khuwaja Zameer Hussain, was shot dead when he was on the way to somewhere on his bike near Qureshi market, Orangi Town in the limits of Iqbal Market police station. Police said the deceased, who was the resident of sector 11, Orangi Town, was the father of three. No case was registered till filing of this report. A man namely Mushtaq, 46 was killed and his nephew Qasim, 25 sustained bullet injuries when unknown armed men sprayed his milk-loaded vehicle (KQ-6995) with bullets in the jurisdiction of Gizri police station. Police said the deceased was owner of a milk shop and might have been targeted over personal enmity. No case was registered till filing of this report.
