Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir, has made a name for himself as a T20 specialist and has represented more than 15 teams in various T20 leagues. But Tanvir ultimate goal remains to represent Pakistan in internationally.
“Obviously I miss playing for Pakistan, because firstly this is not my choice it is by force because I had no option being a professional cricketer you have to play cricket whenever you get your chances.”
“My priority has always been playing for Pakistan but the things is I am not getting my chances, whenever I got a chance I delivered as well, but somehow or the other I don’t know the reasons [for not making into the side],” said Tanvir, quoted ESPNcricinfo.
Tanvir who last represented Pakistan in 2017 against West Indies, revealed that he miss playing Test cricket, saying that Test is the ‘real cricket’ and he got the ability and stats to prove that he belongs in white. Tanvir last played a test match way back in 2007.
“If you look at my first class cricket stats, it shows that I had the ability to play longer format. I think I couldn’t get chances, if I was given chance especially in South Africa, New Zealand or England where the ball seams around, I could have got success,” he said.
Playing only two Tests for Pakistan, Tanvir has claimed 307 wickets in 70 first class matches, including 19 five wickets haul at a bowling average of 23.57.
