Punjab Chief Secretary Nasir Mahmood Khosa has presided over a meeting of DCOs of all the provincial districts to review the causes of rising measles cases and the progress of implementation for checking the disease in the province. The meeting was chaired by the Punjab Chief Secretary on Saturday, in which the latest situation regarding measles disease in the province was reviewed, disclosed an official.
The Secretary Health Punjab Arif Nadeem, Secretary Information and Culture Punjab Mohayuddin Wani, Director General Health Punjab Dr Nisar Ahmed Cheema, Director Health (EPI) Dr Tanveer Hussain, representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Wende, Dr Rana Mushtaq of UNICEF, Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhary of Bill Gates Foundation, Member Provincial Steering Committee of EPI Professor Tariq Bhutta and others attended the meeting.
The meeting also was informed that there is no shortage of measles vaccines in the province. At least 900,000 dosages of vaccines are available in the stocks of the health department. He also directed to provide satisfactory medical facilities to measles patients especially the children who have been suffering from this disease.
