The Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Saturday called for holding timely elections with more transparent and free manner in the country, saying that the conducting timely election was the only solution of the current crisis situation.
"We will not accept any pretext to delay or postpone the polls," he said in categorical terms while addressing the convention of the Watan Pal Lawyers' Forum held in connection with the death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao here. QWP Secretary General Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, Watan Pal Lawyers' Forum provincial President Bilal Ahmad Durrani, General Secretary Saadullah Jandoli and others spoke on the occasion. A large number of lawyers hailing from all parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the event.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) asked to take notice of the pre-polls rigging, he said that backdated recruitment was being made in the government departments, which was a sheer violation of the ECP instructions.
Sherpao called upon all the political parties to get united and seek a viable solution to the issue of militancy in order to restore peace on the land of the Pakhtuns. "All the political parties need to make efforts to take the Pakhtuns at one platform and remove the prevailing sense of deprivation among them," he suggested.
