At the local final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2012-13, hosted by CFA Pakistan at a local hotel, and attended by the cream of the capital markets, students of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) emerged as winners to represent Pakistan at the Asia Pacific Regional Final of the competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 22-23.
Teams from 15 other countries from the region including China, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan will also be participating in the competition. This is the fifth year of competition being held in Pakistan. Owing to the credible repute and excellent performance, Fatima Fertiliser was chosen as the subject company for research this year. Students from 11 leading business schools participated in the competition which requires preparing detailed equity research report on the target company.
Being the largest compound fertiliser manufacturers in Pakistan, Fatima Fertilisers started its commercial operations in July 2011 and has already received prominent recognition on various platforms like Best Performing Stock 2011 and Corporate Excellence Award 2012. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual competition organised by CFA Society of Pakistan giving students from Pakistan's top business schools the opportunity to learn from industry experts and compete with their peers.
The challenge teaches participants best practices in equity research through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. This year's panel of judges for the Pakistan Final comprised Farid Khan, CFA, Nadeem Naqvi, Muhammad Sohail and Dr Amjad Waheed, CFA. Arif Habib, Chairman, Fatima Fertiliser Limited graced the occasion as the chief guest and appreciated the quality of the young presenters and their ability to handle testing questions from the esteemed panel of judges.-PR
