The younger generation has a constructive role to play with commitment towards the betterment of environment. Indus Motor and WWF through Pakistan Nature Carnival are providing the required awareness. This was stated by Minister for Environment Government of Sindh Shaikh Afzal while addressing students of more than 150 schools, colleges & universities of Karachi at the Toyota School Environment Programme TSEP-2013 to showcase their green ideas for environmental conservation here on Sunday.
The minister said that it is really encouraging to see the students demonstrating their responsibility to maintain healthy environment from their surroundings as valuable citizens of the country, they have presented projects, practical steps to protect natural climate and eliminate pollution from their living areas for betterment of the society and generations to come.
"IMC along with WWF-Pakistan is committed to creating awareness about environmental conservation among youth to safeguard the rapidly-polluting environment of the country so that upcoming generations can breathe in fresh air," said Pervez Ghias, CEO, Indus Motor Company, while speaking at the award ceremony of the competition. It is encouraging to see how these young students and teachers are engaged in environmental education to promote learning about critical environmental challenges in Pakistan, he added.
WWF-Pakistan and Indus Motor Company organised the model making competition among the participating schools at the Nature Carnival for the second consecutive year in Karachi. The same event had been organised last year in which thousands of students participated and benefited.
A 3D Model making Competition programme involved the students into hands-on model making competition on key environmental themes. Through hands-on model making exercise, the students will have a better understanding of the subject matter. The Director General WWF said Pakistan Nature Carnival festival has gained a reputation of national level as many companies of different sectors are considering following the suit of environmental awareness and enlightening drive. The festival has brought together students, parents, corporate sector, media, government organisations, conservation organisations and general public to promote learning about critical environmental challenges of Pakistan.
