A Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) minority member of Sindh Assembly has submitted an adjournment motion against Interior Minister Rehman Malik. Provincial lawmaker Saleem Khursheed Khokhar has filed the motion at the assembly secretariat against Rehman Malik for his "impolite and irresponsible" remarks.
The motion, sourced said, is unlikely to sail through the assembly against Rehman Malik, as they opined that "there is no precedent that confirms such motions have been allowed to be tabled in the assembly". Khokhar filed the motion to fight for the rights of non-Muslims in the country. He said the non-Muslims in Pakistan were not involved in terrorism, then how Rehman Malik called the terrorists as non-Muslims.
The minority lawmaker cited remarks of Rehman Malik made on occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal (January 26, 2013) urging the terrorists to lay down weapons or consider themselves as non-Muslims. He said the statement of Rehman Malik was threat to the national integrity, and against the spirit of Pakistan's ideology. He argued that Rehman Malik not only created discontent amongst the non-Muslims but also posed a serious threat to their life and property.
