The Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) has urged the government to take notice of increasing incidents of extortion and firing in electron markets and adopt practical measures to save life and property of the citizens. President KEDA, Mohammad Idrees Memon, demanded of the government to arrest members of extortion mafia and recover illegal arms from them.
He urged the President, Prime Minister, Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh to adopt practical measures to control law and order situation in the city, otherwise they would be compelled to wind up their businesses and relocate to some other parts of the country or abroad.
He lamented that no concrete efforts for safety and security of electronic markets traders were being taken and the government and law enforcing agencies were giving mere statements and lip services. He said that the government should take stringent measures to maintain law and order situation in Karachi in order to keep economy's wheel rolling. He said that unscrupulous elements were harassing businessmen and general public in the city. The democratic government making no efforts to apprehend criminals and to give them exemplary punishment, he opined.
