On the call given by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab, young doctors on Wednesday continued the hunger strike on the third day leaving about nine protesting doctors unconscious who were shifted to emergency ward of Services Hospital. The young doctors have set up a hunger strike camp in front of Services Hospital. Dozens of young doctors are still present at the camp.
YDA representatives have vowed to continue the hunger strike until all of their demands will be fulfilled. During the camp, the doctors chanted slogans against the government for not implementing service structure, and release of their colleagues who were arrested in Gujranwala. The YDA is also demanding cancelling of previous orders which pronounced many YDA members as terminated or suspended. Delegations of different organisations visited the camp to express solidarity with protesting doctors. YDA spokesperson said that the hunger strike would continue till death or acceptance of all demands.
