Former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that if the government wanted to foil the conspiracies to delay polls then it should immediately announce the date for general elections. Talking to media persons in the Supreme Court premises on Wednesday, Sherpao said that some elements for personal interests to derail democracy were putting all out efforts to affect the election process.
He said that issues regarding schemes for hold-up of polls would itself die down if the government sensing the situation announce the date of next general elections. Sherpao's lawyer, Iftikhar Gilani speaking on the occasion, said that Akbar Bugti's murder was not a terrorism case and it would be heard in civil court instead. He said that if the Akbar Bugti's murder was a terrorism act than it means army operation against miscreants could also be termed as intimidation action.
