The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz Babar has said that as many as 1,690 different development schemes were taken into hand by the District Administration Hyderabad at the total cost of Rs 3406.0268 million during last five years. He said that 80 percent construction works of these schemes, yielding to the people have been completed while work on 20 percent new schemes was in the progress and to be completed shortly, he added.
While giving the details of the development works taken into hand by the government in district Hyderabad during last five years, the Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad said that out of these 1,690 schemes, 1,138 development schemes were taken into hand at total cost of 1620.803 million in different components of education sector. He said that these schemes including construction/reconstruction, up-gradation of HSC, middle and primary schools, provision of additional class rooms in existing schools, establishment of five IT centres and two science laboratories.
In addition to that 672 schemes of maintenance and repair were also got completed. Besides, under the Sindh Education Reform Program total 103 schemes were taken into hand and completed at the cost of Rs 324.878 million to ensure modern and latest learning facility to the student of the District. Similarly 18 development schemes were also taken into hand in the building sector at the cost of Rs 295.057 million in addition to that an amount of Rs 206.691 million were incurred on the 531 schemes of repair and maintenance of government building/hospitals and offices during the last five years.
Highlighting the important schemes in building sectors Agha Shahnawaz said that construction of football and Malakhra ground at Kohesar at the cost of Rs 20.00 million, construction of Home Stead Hall Library at the cost of Rs 17.495 million, construction of Expo Center Hyderabad at the cost of Rs 20.00 million, construction of blood diseases unit at Preetabad Hospital at the cost of Rs 8.00 million, renovation of 50 bedded hospital Qasimabad at the cost of Rs 28.400 million, up-gradation of casualty block at Bhitai Hospital Latifabad at the cost of Rs 40.00 million, construction of casualty and emergency block and 20 bedded hospital in Taluka City at the cost of Rs 38.126 million and construction of child care center Latifabad at the cost of Rs 40.00 million besides many other such schemes of dispensaries have also been taken into hand in Hyderabad Taluka Rural, he added.
He further said that to provide safe drinking water to the citizen with having them efficient sewerage facilities was the prime task of present government as such 13 different schemes were taken into hand with the cost of Rs 222.683 million in this sector. He said that out of these 8 schemes were about to complete while work in 5 remaining schemes were current financial year is being started shortly. He said that under this program up-gradation of sewerage system of Thandi Sarak, improvement of sewerage system of GOR Colony, Laying of CC drains at American Quarters and construction of sewerage line and new pumping station at Latifabad Unit No 3 were more important to facilitate the common citizen.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that in addition to these schemes the construction work of 110 kilometers of roads, reconstruction of 83 kilometers road and repair and maintenance of 179 kilometer of roads have also been completed during last five years. He said that in addition to that there were many other development schemes are being executed by other government agencies that are, HDP, Federal and Provincial Government Departments in the District Hyderabad.
