Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan said that the autonomy to police under Police Order 2002 will be maintained at any cost and efforts will be made for bringing furthermore improvement, which was the demand of the current circumstances. He said that sacrifices of police against terrorism were part of history that demand fulfilment of needs of the police.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of the book titled, "Police Martyrs Mardan Region" at DIG House Mardan. Additional IG Masood Afridi, DIG Mardan Abdullah, DPO Danishwar Khan, police officers, personnel and heirs of Shuhadas were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister said that publication of this book on behalf of police was commendable from all aspects in presenting glowing tributes to martyrs of police, added, that will not only boost morals of police officers and Jawans but will always remind the unmatched sacrifices of their parents and elders to new generations of martyrs. He said that we were proud of those police officers and Jawans who had rendered sacrifices of their lives for revival of peace, battle against terrorism and protection to lives and properties of the people.
He offered sitting to a child of martyr on presiding chair and said that it was responsibility of the society to term children of Shuhadas as one's own children and elders as one's own elders. He said that we must not only feel their sufferings but provide a proof of it. He said that all these matters must be beyond politics.
The chief minister said that even billion rupees can not substitute a human life because these martyrs have rendered sacrifices of their lives for the sake of country, nation and people and not for their sake, property or business. He said that KP police was established for law and order and control on routine crimes but for the first time in history, the police force was stood against terrorism due to situation in the region regardless of training, equipments.
He said that in spite of all this, the police force has recorded history of sacrifices, courage and bravery with their blood. He said that bearing these in mind, police force of the province has been equipped with modern training and weapons and its number has been enhanced despite meager financial resources.
He said that earlier to this, the police force has nominal guns for battling trained and well equipped terrorists but by Grace of Allah, now the police force was capable to give tit for tat response to terrorists' attacks. He said that taking into consideration the sacrifices of police, the financial assistance under Shaheed package has been gradually enhanced from Rs 500,000 to Rs 3 million. He said that courageous and patriotic police force of the province was still battling terrorists.
He rejected the notion conclusion of police order due to new local government system and said that autonomy to police under Police Order 2002 will be maintained at all cost. He congratulated DIG Abdullah Khan and other officers on publication of the book and assured full support. DIG Abdullah Khan presented the welcomed address and said that sacrifices of Shuhadas gurantee peace, added, police force will not shun any sacrifice for peace and protection of the country. He lauded role of CM in enhancing Shuhada package and capacity building of police.
