President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Muhammad Haroon Agar has asserted upon the need of entrepreneurship development and stated that youth should be encouraged to opt for self-employment.
He was exchanging views with the Vice-Chancellor of Greenwich University Seema Mughal, he assured his best support and co-operation to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Greenwich University (GU), under Universities-Industries Linkage programme of KCCI, mainly to promote entrepreneurship and produce professionals as per need of corporate sector and industries.
Haroon Agar was of the view that this initiative is a productive move by two leading entities of Karachi which believe in ownership and optimum reciprocating to society and as well as the country. President KCCI apprised that the KCCI has embarked upon an ambitious plan of Universities-Industries Linkages, consequently, MoU was signed with Greenwich University for mutual co-operation. He informed that President of KCCI was already a member on the Board of Governors of 20 Universities of Karachi.
He focused that KCCI-GU liaison will result in development of entrepreneurship and explore necessity for new faculties as per the on-ground requirements of trade and industry. Having a great say in the Federal and Provincial Governments, KCCI would support the cause of the Universities and Higher Education Institutes of Karachi to further uplift academic excellence and call upon concerned quarters accordingly to create new dimensions of academic excellence, he focused.
Vice-Chancellor Seema Mughal appreciated the vital role played by KCCI for revenue generation, employment creation, entrepreneurship development and socio-economic development of Karachi and Pakistan. She stated that keeping in view mutual interest, KCCI & GU signed MoU to work together, co-ordinate their efforts, pool multiple resources to help the industry and academia in achieving maximum potential and increasing knowledge.
She said that it is imperative to arrange lectures of President, Office Bearers and prominent members of KCCI engaged in trade and industry at various departments of GU to broaden ideas and enlightenment for students. She was of the opinion that KCCI and GU can join hands in research and organising conferences, seminars and symposiums.-PR
