The Karachi Port handled 116,373 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,468 tonnes of import cargo and 36,905 tonnes of export cargo including 5,188 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 79,468 tonnes comprised 47,932 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,347 tonnes of general cargo and 26,189 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,905 tonnes comprised 17,757 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,659 tonnes of general cargo; 2,389 tonnes of bulk cargo; 316 tonnes of cement; 1,222 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 851 tonnes of sugar and 15,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,188 containers comprising 3,464 containers import and 1,724 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,102 of 20's and 1,045 of 40's loaded while 100 of 20's and 86 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 485 of 20's and 304 of 40's loaded containers while 1 of 20's and 315 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely Atlantic Frauke, Xing Fu Song, Kota Gembira, Fuji Galaxy and Capri Cement with two general cargo ship, one container ship, one oil tanker and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels viz Kota Gembira, APL Shenzhen, Hai Tun Zuo and MT Lahore with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths. There are two ships namely APL Shenzhen and Ever Result with two container ships respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Hai Tun Zuo, MT Lahore and Atlantic Cemini with two oil tankers and one molases ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
A container vessel viz APL Chicago due to arrive on Thursday, while nine vessels viz Rio Blanco, YM Ningbo, TS Singapore, Artenos, Wan Hai-603, Baltic, Hellespoint Pride, Kamome Victory and Eurossa with five container ships, one crude oil tanker, one naphtha ship, one molasses ship and one LSF oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 40,061 tonnes comprising 22,241 tonnes of import cargo and 17,820 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,036 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 22,241 tonnes includes 7,450 tonnes of iron ore; 5,467 tonnes of chemicals and 9,324 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,820 tonnes includes 5,388 tonnes of cement and 12,432 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are two ships namely CV OOCL San Francisco and MV Harasandi with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Sena-4 with LPG mix is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV OOCL San Francisco, Jay Hawk, MV Dynamic Ocean, MT HR Margatha, Harasandi, Star Masaya and MT Sena-4 are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, iron ore and chemicals respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely City of Beijing, Dubai Express, Al-Salam-II and Fuji Galaxy with containers, diesel oil and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV City of Beijing, CV Dubai Express and MT Fuji Galaxy with containers and edible oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
