Prices of most of the essential kitchen items remained stable last week as compared to preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey noted vegetables' prices remained stable last week as compared to the preceding week.
Tomato was available at Rs 60 per kg, onion at Rs 40 per kg, green-chili at Rs 65 per kg, cucumber at Rs 70 per kg, cabbage at Rs 40 per kg, potato at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 30 per kg week past price, carrot was available at Rs 40 per kg, radish at Rs 30 per kg and Shimla Mirch was being sold at Rs 90 per kg during the week past as compared to the preceding week.
The survey observed that during the week, the price of milk had registered an increase of Rs 5 per kg as at present it is available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 75 per kg last week. Sugar and wheat flour prices also witnessed a slight increase as wheat flour at present is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 38 per kg last week. Similarly, last week sugar was available at Rs 55 per kg, which now is being sold at Rs 56 per kg. While the price of ghee/cooking oil and tea has witnessed no change during the week.
However, mixed trend was noted in fruit prices, as citrus fruit registered slight decrease in their prices, while others remained unchanged during last week as compared to the preceding week. Good quality kinnow was being sold at Rs 70-120 per dozen against Rs 80-140 per dozen week past price, fruiter at Rs 70-80 per dozen against Rs 100 per dozen, Shikary was being sold at Rs 120-150 per dozen, apple was being sold at Rs 120-140 per kg, banana was available in the range of Rs 40-80 per dozen and guava at Rs 50-65 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.
The survey noted that meat prices remained stable last week as compared to the preceding week as mutton was available at Rs 560 per kg and beef at Rs 360 per kg. The prices of chicken and eggs also remained stable last week as compared to the preceding week, as it was being sold at Rs 160 per kg and eggs were available at Rs 85 per dozen.
Meanwhile, prices of entire range of pulses remained stable last week as compared to the preceding week, as Dal Mash was available at Rs 140 per kg, Moong at Rs 140 per kg, Lobia at Rs 150 per kg, Masoor at Rs 120 per kg, Channa at Rs 110 per kg and white Channa at Rs 120-150 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week. However, basmati rice was available at Rs 80-90 per kg and super colonel was available at Rs 120-135 per kg last week as compared to the preceding week.
