The Pakistan People Party's provincial president, Anwar Saifullah Khan has once again reaffirmed the resolve that his party would not enter into electoral-alliance with any political party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, however, seat-to-seat adjustment at different districts will be considered.
Addressing at a press conference here at his residence on Saturday, the PPP provincial president said his party will explore seat-adjustment with different political and religious parties, instead of making alliance for next general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. "PPP has made contact with other political parties including Jamiat Uleme-e-Islam (JUI-F), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) about seat adjustment in the KP province, said PPP provincial president, he maintained.
He said that his party would opt for seat to seat adjustment with other parties instead of going for electoral alliance. After receiving recommendations forwarded by districts chapters regarding candidates for the upcoming elections, he said a meeting of party's provincial parliamentary board would be held very soon to discuss issuance of tickets to the candidates in the province. "We had so far received about 500 applications for party's tickets in the province", he added.
In this regard, he said, the party had formed four committees at regional level to consider seat adjustment. He said that committee for the Peshawar region is being headed by the provincial health minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Malakand by Ahmed Hassan Khan, Hazara division by the Shamroz Khan Jadoon and southern districts were party's provincial chief himself.
He said that party's district chapters have been directed to enter into talks with other parties about electoral seat adjustment, and afterwards regional committees would also be involved in this process. Saifullah said that a provincial parliamentary board has also been constituted comprising party's senior leaders including KP senior minister Rahimdad Khan, deputy speaker national assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, former provincial president and senator Sardar Ali Khan, member National Assembly Najmuddin Khan and Anwar Saifullah Khan.
He said that party's provincial leadership had solicited three names for each national and provincial assembly constituency from district chapters; however, a final decision would be made by the party's chairman and co-chairman and federal parliamentary board.
PPP provincial president said that his party has made a good start in the province and was in position to form its government in this province. He said that his party would give this province service-oriented government if elected into power. Saifullah also said that they would also hold local government elections after winning elections so that lawmakers could concentrate on law making.
