The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Saturday said decision of the government to provide natural gas to CNG outlets for two days a week is unworkable and unacceptable. CNG closure for 22 days a month would not provide any relief to masses deprived of economic fuel, said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA.
No business could remain viable when it operated for mere eight days a month, he said, adding that CNG filling stations were no exception to the well-defined trade and industry principles. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha said CNG sector had no alternative but the natural gas which was available in ample quantity as the weather had normalised reducing peak demand for the commodity.
He said demand of gas had receded resulting in full pressure in the 8,000 km SNGPL network leaving little room for authorities to keep masses deprived of CNG on one pretext or other. The gap in the demand and supply of gas could have been decreased if there was any would to contain leakages and control increasing theft, he lamented. Paracha said the government should immediately order reopening of all CNG outlets for seven days a week to ensure relief to masses and keep CNG business feasible.-PR
